On this brisk winter day (temperatures below freezing), Brianna never let this affect her mood. This poised athlete carried herself with confidence and grace throughout our shoot. She even went as far as to wear her dress as the sun was setting over the Seattle waterfront. Serious commitment. (A few goosebumps maybe have been airbrushed out of these photos.
It may have taken me hours to regain feeling in my in fingers (must have taken Brianna an entire day), but it was so worth it. Many of my favorite shoots from this last year have happened on the coldest days of winter, and this shoot is no exception.
This neighborhood in North Kunming, China has been one of my favorite spots for photos. Around every corner is a new dilapidated building, an antique Chinese doorway, or a long abandoned house long abandoned overrun with vegetation.
The Ziebarts also love this spot, and having adventured in the neighborhood in years past, we couldn’t resist revisiting. A year later, and not much had changed. We encountered lovely smiling faces, unique locations for photos, some truly horrific smells & sights, and a lot of fun.
You would never be able to tell that this relaxed family was packing up to move across the country in a few days. Even more impressive than that, their personalities & interactions didn’t change when the camera came out. No coaching necessary, they just had fun with playing with their daughter in one of their favorite Seattle parks. And I had fun chasing after them.
Loved spending the afternoon with these three beautiful & intelligent students. They came so prepared with the professional & casual wear and brought a great energy to the shoot.
Quite determined to not have a posed photoshoot while I visited them in Dali, the Chongs did let me catch some moments of life while I visited them my last day of my 2014 trip to China (and even grab a posed photo or two).
